How to Live an Oola Life

How-to-live-an-Oola-Life

Have you ever heard the word Oola? Oola is that state of awesomeness when your life is balanced and growing in the seven key areas of life. The seven key areas (Seven F’s) of Oola are Fitness, Finance, Family, Field, Faith, Friends, and Fun.   It can be as complex as a life growing and balanced in the 7 F’s of Oola, or as simple as a sunset, a quiet book on the beach, or a special moment with a child. This is the place that everyone truly wants to be in life. Learn to celebrate the little successes in your life. This is the Oola way! I want to share with you How to Live an Oola life!

What is holding you back from living your Oola life? If you want to move forward in perusing an Oola life then you must identify your blockers . There are seven common Oola blockers: Fear, Envy, Guilt, Anger, Self Sabotage, Laziness, Lack of Focus.  Your Oola blockers may be different but these are the most common. If you truly want to grow with balance it is imperative that you identify your Oola blockers and face them.

Now, lets identify your Oola accelerators. These are things that propel you forward to help you reach your Oola goals. There are seven common Oola accelerators: Gratitude, Love, Discipline, Integrity, Passion, Humility, and Wisdom. Your accelerators may be different but these are the most common. If you want to be successful in persuing an Oola balanced life, you must identify your Oola accelerators.

So now that you have identified your Oola blockers and accelerators lets put it to work.

There are three steps to living an Oola life.

Step 1. Where are you in your life?   Do you excel in your field but lack in your family? How are your finances? How is your Faith? Are you keeping yourself healthy? Use the Oola wheel to identify which areas of your life need balance.

Step 2. Where do you want to be? Do you want to be healthier? Do you want to exercise more? Do you need more money? Use the Oola Plan to write down your goals in the seven areas of Oola.

Step 3. How are you going to get there? Build a plan! Use the Oola path to make a plan to achieve your goals.

Visit the Oola site to help you define the three steps to Oola

What are Antioxidants?

Antioxidants-explained-so-simply-a-toddler-could-understand

Have you ever wondered, “What are antioxidants”? I know I have! They are advertised everywhere and you know they are good but WHAT are they? Are they a vitamin? No. Are they a mineral? No.
Okay, so if they are not a vitamin nor a mineral then how could they possibly benefit the body? Let me tell you a little story to help you understand what an antioxidant really is and what its place is in the body is.

There was this happily married couple. We’ll call them Mark and Erica. (… okay, so that’s my husband and I, lol) Every night they would go to sleep so comfortable in their queen sized bed with the pillow-top mattress and memory foam pillows. One day they decided to have a baby. Eventually that baby became a toddler that no longer wanted to sleep in her own bed. No matter what Erica and Mark did that toddler always seemed to make it into the cozy comfy bed (Which, by the way, was no longer cozy and comfy) Every night Erica and Mark would be head butted, kicked, punched, and pushed from their perfectly comfortable sleeping positions. It was not ideal for anyone!

One day while out at the store, Erica found this cute Princess Sophia bed set. That day, Erica and Mark upgraded the little toddlers bed to a “Big girl bed” with princess Sophia sheets, pillows and blankets. That was just what the toddler needed! She was in love with her new bedding and wanted to go to sleep right away. Each night thereafter, she laid down in her own bed and slept there all night until the morning woke her.

The End.

So, Do you understand antioxidants after reading that cute little story? No? Okay, so here is the explanation:
Erica and Mark had a healthy cell structure, much like the ones found in your body. They slept comfortably in there bed and it was good and healthy. Along came this free radical, a toddler, who ruined sleep for that healthy cell structure. Then the Antioxidant, Princess Sophia bed set, saved the day (or night)

When your body has free radicals inside of it, the antioxidants attach to those free radicals and save the day. Those free radicals are no longer a threat to your healthy cell structures. Overall this means, without free radicals, you will feel 100%!

When we talk about food items sometimes we say “That’s High in antioxidants” To know which foods are high we rate them using ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) units. This unit of measurement for antioxidants was developed by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

For further reading you can check out what the National Institute of health has to say about Antioxidants here.

So which foods have high antioxidant ratings? I have put together a graphic for you to show some common foods. You can also search Super Foodly for additional foods.

Antioxidants-of-common-foods

But wait! Did you know that essential oils have antioxidant ratings as well? They do and they are surprisingly high!

Essential Oils for Teachers

Essential Oils For Teachers

It’s back to school Monday! The weekend has passed and the kids are all back in class. In this post you will find some essential oils for teachers.

Teachers become teachers because they want to make a difference in our upcoming generations. (At least, that’s my perception of the job) Lets face it! Being a teacher can come with a lot more then dealing with lesson plans, activities and grades. Every teacher faces their day to day frustrations, irritations, and challenges. I have put together a collection of oils and products that I feel are must-haves in your big teacher desk! In addition to my Back To School Essentials post, I’ve elaborated and added a few more! Enjoy!

Joy –  Diffuse in class (if your permitted) or before class to enjoy a drama free classroom. You can also wear this as a perfume to help you stay positive throughout your day.

Purification – I know you’ve got one – A stinky kid! If you don’t, then I know you’ve got some stinky gym shoes, a stinky locker, or if your really lucky, a stinky surprise food item left for months in a desk!  Put a few drops on a cotton ball to help freshen the air. You can place the cotton ball wherever its needed.

Stress Away – Teaching can be stressful! Use Stress Away to reduce any teaching related stress.

Peppermint – Need to keep your mind sharp? Use this fresh scent to open your eyes and get your brain working. You can add a drop to a glass of water and drink throughout the day. This will also help support digestion, as well.

Thieves – We all know kids are walking cesspools! Keep an extra bottle of this on hand just in case. Okay, maybe that’s a bit too excessive but one drop in your morning tea will help support your healthy immune system. Also, Thieves is available as wipes, spray and hand purifier! Get some!

Aroma Life – If you get nervous before presenting information to your colleagues or at a board meeting, apply some of this oil over your heart. Doing this will energize your life force helping you to “Come out of your shell”

Lavender – Everyone loves sleep. Teachers need restful sleep so they can teach our children. If you love your teacher, buy her a bottle of lavender. If your the teacher, you will want this oil in your collection! one drop on a cotton ball placed between your pillow and case is all you need. You can make a room spray or a linen spray. You may even diffuse for a restful night.

Lemon – If you need some extra eye opening in the A.M. Try a drop of lemon in your glass of water. Remember, use glass; not plastic!

Frankincense – If you find yourself in a bad mood use a drop of frankincense. It is considered a holy oil and was given to Jesus as a gift. This oil will help bring you closer to go and in turn enhance your mood. If you need some spirit in your life, this is a must have!

Valor – This oil is especially useful to high school teachers. You have to have confidence in yourself otherwise your students will walk all over you. You don’t want to be the “Cool” teacher because you are a total pushover. If you need some extra confidence anywhere in your life this is your oil! I enjoy placing one drop in my cupped hand and directly inhaling. This oil smells amazing and I truly believe it helps restore confidence.

That concludes the oils found in my previous post. Don’t leave just yet! Here are a few other great products you may want to try!

Change is hard. Most of us do not like change. I don’t know about you, but I find change a little difficult. When you do something one way for a long time it is difficult to retrain yourself to do it differently.  Most new years resolutions have something to do with change.  No one ever said “I want to do exactly what I did last year because that was working for me.”  You want to change something and that’s why we get halfway through the year and go back to our old ways. Transformation Essential Oil Blend is powerfully stimulating to the conscious mind, allowing for the support necessary to make changes, especially mentally and emotional changes.

How to use Transformation:

Maybe your new years resolution is to lose a few pounds but you just can’t see yourself at the gym. Maybe this is your year to quit smoking. How are you going to overcome being around all your co-workers when they all smoke. Overcoming our feelings is a big part of achieving our goals. Envision essential oil blend supports and balances the emotions allowing us to have faith in the future toward achieving our dreams and goals. This blend was specifically designed to expel negative emotions, elevate the mind, balance, power, and propel you forward to achieve your desired goals. Dump the entire jar into your bath water and enjoy. Follow your relaxing bath with a massage using V-6 oil and envision.

Essential Oils and Your Pet

Young Living is committed to providing quality products that are safe for our pets! If you love using Young Living products on yourself and in your home, you’ve probably wondered how you can share their amazing benefits with your pets.

Pets Love Essential Oils!

Here are some tips on how to use oils on your pet:

  • Let your pet choose the oil they need!
  • Every pet is different, carefully observe how each animal responds to the oils. Use common sense and good judgment as you try different methods.
  • Take special care to not get essential oils in the animal’s eyes.
  • Use in moderation and start with heavy dilution.
  • Do not use Tea Tree on Birds or Cats.
  • Avoid using high-phenol oils such as Oregano and Thyme with any animal, especially kitties!

Check it out! You can use oils from the Premium Starter Kit!!!

Oils for Dogs

Essential Oils For Your Dog!

Dogs can benefit from oils in several ways.  Here is a list of common reasons to use essential oils on your dog:

  • Calming
  • Nervousness
  • Skeletal Support
  • Muscular Support
  • Chewing on Furniture
  • Cellular Support
  • Cleansing

Apply oils to your dog’s foot pads following the Dog Vita Flex Chart. You can also apply oils to your hands and rub the oil down the dogs back.

Small Dogs: Start with 1 drop. Unless otherwise indicated on the product label, dilution is unnecessary.

Oils for cats Cats are very sensitive animals. They too can benefit from essential oils. More dilution is always a good thing!!!

Avoid using high-phenol oils such as Oregano and Thyme with any animals, especially cats. Melaleuca should never be used on or near cats.

  • Use special caution when using essential oils with cats. Cats are also generally averse to citrus essential oils.
  • If you are diffusing essential oils, be sure to leave the door open so the cat can exit when she needs too. A few minutes is really all they need.

For cats: use 1-2 drops. Be sure to dilute 80–90 percent before application (for example, for every 1 drop of oil, use 4–5 drops of a diluting agent, such as V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex).

Oils for birds What? Birds Can Use Oils?!

If you have a pet bird then you already know they are extremely sensitive to household toxins. Pet bird owners have to be careful about spraying air fresheners or burning candles because it can be dangerous to the bird.

Until recently, it was believed that aromatherapy was toxic to birds. Scented household products contain poor grade fragrances, added toxins, adulterated oils, or synthetic essential oils. Because of this, it was thought that all essential oils were toxic to birds. This is simply not true. Birds, especially parrots, are a new addition to the world of veterinary aromatherapy. Take note: Tea Tree/ Melaleuca is very toxic to birds and in some cases can lead to death. Never use Tea Tree on your pet bird!

While birds have a distinct way that they should be exposed to essential oils, it has been found that they not only benefit, but thrive, with the addition of essential oils into their lives. Consult your trusted veterinarian before attempting to use essential oils on your pet bird.

Erica Cain, Member #2110300 (18) Horses can be oiled too!

Horses and other members of the Equidae family are fairly easy to administer essential oils to. Horses intuitively love essential oils and will often times take the guess-work out of choosing the right oils! Despite their size, horses require the same amount of essential oil as a dog or small human. Horses have been known to respond better to diluted oils rather than neat, or undiluted essential oils.

How do you know if a horse likes the oil?
Horses enjoy choosing their own oil. Offer them a few bottles and most often than not, they will tell you which one they like!!! Pay attention to the nose! Horses that like the oil may flare their nostrils, go for the bottle, and even try to even nuzzle it out of your hand!

Are there any concerns?
More often than not, Horses that develop a bad reaction to essential oils have been administered perfume grade or aromatherapy oils. These oils contain 90-95 percent solvents! (A friend of mine bought a bottle of tea tree from the internet. She paid very little for it and we could actually see the essential oil floating at the top. It had a tea tree smell, if you could get past the kerosene odor.)
