Mom must have

must-have-oil

I’m so excited to say that I am finally back to blogging. For those of you that don’t know, I recently had a baby boy. He is so beautiful. I love spending all of my time with him. Adjusting to two kids is going well, and I finally feel like I can squeeze blogging into my schedule. Today I want to share with you my “mom must have oil”.

Everyday I have been using Abundance and Harmony and they are both working wonders for me! I’ll write about that later. The most important oil in my collection right now is digize. In my opinion, every mom should have this oil. Scratch that, EVERYONE should have this oil.

Looking back I don’t know how I survived without Digize after the birth of my first child. Luckily, I found Young Living a few months after she was born. During those first few months I gotta say, things were tough. My life was forever changed after I received my premium starter kit. Words cannot tell you how amazing essential oils are so today I have made a video of Digize in action!

Please note that I am using coconut oil to dilute digize before putting it on my son. Please learn how to dilute essential oils properly before applying them to your baby or children. The correct ratio for babies age nb-6mos is .25 drop:4 tsp

Also, please remember I only recommend Young Living Essential Oils. Using other brands may cause opposite effects or undesired side effects.

What is your mom must have oil??

What are Antioxidants?

Antioxidants-explained-so-simply-a-toddler-could-understand

Have you ever wondered, “What are antioxidants”? I know I have! They are advertised everywhere and you know they are good but WHAT are they? Are they a vitamin? No. Are they a mineral? No.
Okay, so if they are not a vitamin nor a mineral then how could they possibly benefit the body? Let me tell you a little story to help you understand what an antioxidant really is and what its place is in the body is.

There was this happily married couple. We’ll call them Mark and Erica. (… okay, so that’s my husband and I, lol) Every night they would go to sleep so comfortable in their queen sized bed with the pillow-top mattress and memory foam pillows. One day they decided to have a baby. Eventually that baby became a toddler that no longer wanted to sleep in her own bed. No matter what Erica and Mark did that toddler always seemed to make it into the cozy comfy bed (Which, by the way, was no longer cozy and comfy) Every night Erica and Mark would be head butted, kicked, punched, and pushed from their perfectly comfortable sleeping positions. It was not ideal for anyone!

One day while out at the store, Erica found this cute Princess Sophia bed set. That day, Erica and Mark upgraded the little toddlers bed to a “Big girl bed” with princess Sophia sheets, pillows and blankets. That was just what the toddler needed! She was in love with her new bedding and wanted to go to sleep right away. Each night thereafter, she laid down in her own bed and slept there all night until the morning woke her.

The End.

So, Do you understand antioxidants after reading that cute little story? No? Okay, so here is the explanation:
Erica and Mark had a healthy cell structure, much like the ones found in your body. They slept comfortably in there bed and it was good and healthy. Along came this free radical, a toddler, who ruined sleep for that healthy cell structure. Then the Antioxidant, Princess Sophia bed set, saved the day (or night)

When your body has free radicals inside of it, the antioxidants attach to those free radicals and save the day. Those free radicals are no longer a threat to your healthy cell structures. Overall this means, without free radicals, you will feel 100%!

When we talk about food items sometimes we say “That’s High in antioxidants” To know which foods are high we rate them using ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) units. This unit of measurement for antioxidants was developed by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

For further reading you can check out what the National Institute of health has to say about Antioxidants here.

So which foods have high antioxidant ratings? I have put together a graphic for you to show some common foods. You can also search Super Foodly for additional foods.

But wait! Did you know that essential oils have antioxidant ratings as well? They do and they are surprisingly high!
